Things to do in Crescent Head

Crescent Head is located on NSW's Mid North Coast, 4.5 hours from Sydney and Brisbane, 3 hours from Newcastle and 40 minutes from Port Macquarie. Here are some of our favourite things you'll love to see, do and discover.

Outdoor activities & walks

Enjoy the Five Headlands Walk from Big Nobby to Goolawah for spectacular views of the sea and landscape. A walk from Big Nobby down past the water towers and through the Golf Course is a short but stunning stroll.  Little Nobby lookout is a must do walk for the best views of the ocean and the beach, and it’s the perfect spot to watch the annual whale migration (May - July).

We also recommend exploring the Macleay Valley during your stay. Learn more here.

Surf & swim

Crescent Head is an iconic Australian beach town and is a National Surf Reserve - one of the best longboard breaks in the world.

Crescent Head Surf Co. has boards for hire, and is the place to organise a lesson.

Killick Beach, watching the surfers and having a paddle in Killick Creek is a must-do, and fun for all ages. The creek is also the perfect place to go paddle boarding and try your hand at fishing.

Dine & drink

Everything is within walking distance including the famous Sea Sea Hotel just meters from our front door.  By day you’ll love our neighbour Cheetah Five for takeaway coffee, and Point Break, Barnetts Bakery or Drift to linger a little longer.

Later in the day head to Crescent Head Tavern including pizzas at the Thirsty Camel, The Country Club with Barnesy’s Bistro and Bamboo Chinese. Enjoy something yummy across the road at Mezzaluna (The Med) - perfect for takeaway night too.

Shopping & wellness

The village has a pharmacy, hairdresser, and other cute local stores including Crescent Head Surf Co.Mr Vintage, Drifters and Cheetah Five Store.

Treat yourself to a facial or massage at our neighbour across the road - Beauty and the Beach, or book in for a yoga or a massage at Wattle in the village.

Supermarkets & supplies

Our local supermarket, FoodWorks (closes 6pm daily) has all your shopping needs covered, alongside Nixon’s Butchery with its 24 hour meat vending machine.

Fill the fridge at The Thirsty Camel, and Bottle-O.
Kempsey is just 15 mins drive away with a Woolies, Coles and BWS. Woolies delivery is handy for those longer stays if you prefer not to travel. There is also a pharmacy and vet clinic in the village.

The Crescent Head Country Club

At the heart of the village is the Crescent Head Country Club.  It offers all the activities you could want: Tennis, Mini Golf, Lawn Bowls, Golf (Australia's only PGA recognised six-hole course) - all bookable at the sports shop.

With two restaurants Barnesy’s Bistro and Bamboo Chinese, and a great selection of beers, wines and spirits there's plenty of choice.
The Clubs famous Meat Raffle is held every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday (lunchtime) and is not to be missed.

☀️ HOST TIP
"Grab a coffee from Cheetah Five, wander down to The Point and spend half an hour watching the surfers. It's one of our favourite ways to start the day and the perfect reminder that holidays don't need to be rushed." - Claire
